How to make a Treasure Chest:
In order to successfully make a treasure chest, follow my instructions and it will be easy. First, you must go to the store and buy all your supplies you will need. Have your parent take you to a store and buy all the supplies on the list above. (ex.treasure chest, paint, coins, and beads ect.) Once you get home, take the wooden box and sand it to get it ready to stain. The next step was to take an old shirt and apply a layer of wood stain on the box to give it a darker look. Once that dries, apply a second layer to make sure it is covered completely. Next, you should measure and make lines to paint a black trim an inch from the top and down the front and sides of the chest and then you will paint gold dots and a keyhole on the front of the chest. Now it is time to decorate the inside of the chest to make it look like real treasure. Go on a hunt around your house and find small boxes and wrap them with gold or silver wrapping paper. Place the boxes in the bottom of the chest to look like gold and silver pieces. Last but not least, add the coins and beads by hanging them out the sides of the chest. Glue a few of the coins on the chest to hold them in place. Now sit back and admire your sparkling treasure. So if you ever need to know how to build a treasure chest, then just follow my directions and it will turn out pretty good.

Treasure Chests
If you have ever wondered what a treasure chest is, then you will soon find out after reading my story. Listen to this story I promise you won’t have hardly any questions about treasure chests after hearing this. Just sit back and relax and enter the world of treasure!

The history of treasure chests is very interesting. A long time ago Vikings were described as the early pirates. Back then most people thought treasure chests were just some silly old myths, but they soon discovered that below the depths of the sea holds magnificent treasures. Disbeliefs of treasure chests started with a little thing called “treasure island.” Other people didn’t believe in them because of movies and what they said about them, but soon after they figured out that they were wrong about everything.

The function of treasure is quite unusual. Treasure chests are usually found at the bottom of seas or deeply buried underground. Many people were lucky to find many valuables in the treasure chests but others bather got a thing. These chests were put on something called shipping crates to be hauled over somewhere and closed tightly shut. Some of people put out treasure chests just because they don’t want something that they might not want around or maybe something that they think other family members may discover. They may need a key to get inside them or are just automatically opened. Hundreds of people may be happy about getting a treasure, but soon find out that they might not be able to open it.

Have you ever wondered what was actually inside treasure chest? Many may hold old coins made out of gold or silver. Some may hold valuable things and some may not. Really what matters is the true beauty and the discovery of the treasure chest itself. Most people say that all treasure chests hold money or coins, but really they can also hold jewelry, glitter beads, maps and lots more things. I was one of those people who thought it only held money or old coins, but after awhile I discovered it holds much more than that.

The starting of lost treasure started in around the 1500’s. Even though some of the tales of treasure chests are a little exaggerated some of the statements are very true. Now I highly doubt you have any questions (after reading this) about treasure chests, right? So I wouldn’t doubt the fact that some sayings of treasure chests are true because there are many discoveries and facts on them that will open your mind and you will see their true beauty of treasure chests.

Today, my mom and I went to Baytown to buy supplies for my Treasure Chest project. We went to Michaels and Wal-mart to buy paint, paint brushes and the box I would use to make my chest. When I got home I got some brown wood stain and one of my dad’s old shirts and started the staining process of my box. I let the first coat dry and then put the second coat of stain on.

Back to working on my project again, I began to outline the box for painting. I used a ruler and pencil to draw lines along the edges to help me paint black stripes. I used black paint to paint stripes along the edges of the front, side and back of the treasure chest. Then I carefully painted black along the top rounded surface of the chest. Once the paint dried, I touched up the stripes to make sure the black stood out and was covered completely. I then drew a square keyhole box on the front of the chest. I painted the keyhole background black. Once that dried I outlined a keyhole that I would later paint gold.

For my nautical project I am making and painting a treasure chest. First I went to the library to get some information on treasure chests. Then I came back to the classroom and painted gold dots and a keyhole on my treasure chest. It took me 40 minutes to carefully accomplish the paint of my treasure chest. I have found out a lot of information about treasure chest and the many discoveries of them. My goal is to try my hardest to find more facts. I have already painted black on the outside of my treasure chest, but I am hoping to have time to put another coat of black on top of the first because it has faded away kind of. I am also hoping to put old coins, glitter and beads inside the treasure chest so it looks like real treasure. I recommend that you research treasure chest because there are a lot of good stories and myths behind them. Thanks for reading and I hope you take my advice on researching treasure chests.

Today for my project I worked on my report for my nautical project. I wrote 5 paragraphs all describing treasure chests. I spent about 55 minutes on this. I had a lot of information about treasure chests that I didn't even know until I started the project. I also worked on decorating my entry wikipage. I went to glowing text and found a lot of cool texts on there. There were other websites to find cool texts, but I liked the glow text the best. I am trying to find some old coins for my treasure chest but I still haven't found any yet but this weekend I am going to get some.

Today for my treasure chest project I worked on my wikipage again. I redid some of the things on my entry page. I also added some new pictures on there. I finished my favorites table with all my favorite things on it. I also made sure that all my links worked and that when I clicked on them they would navigate me to the next link. I made sure I had all my dividing lines that separated all the sections on my wikipage. Well, thanks for reading my blog!!!!!

I decided to work on my treasure chest project not knowing the frustration it would bring. I had to hunt for small boxes to wrap in gold and silver paper to place in the chest. Then I placed beads and coins al over the top of the boxes and spilling out the sides of the chest. Next, I used tape to help hold the beads in place. The last step was to glue the coins and beads to the chest as well. Let dry and then done. I then started to work on my wiki page were the pictures would not download correctly. I gave up and called it a night.

Tonight, I decided to try to work on my wikispace once again. Yeah, my pictures downloaded and went on just fine. I put four new pictures on my wikispace and tried to line them up neatly the best I could. I discovered also that depending what computer you are on changes the way the page looks.

HARD AT WORK!!!!!!!
